5 TIPS TO FINDING THE PERFECT TROUSERS OR JEANS

I been gone for to long from this blog, life just happened. I been working, spending time with family and all that important stuff. Taking time for myself and figuring out what I want to do with this blog. There are so many young talented fashion bloggers out there. I am not one of them. I was not feeling anything when I was writing shorter blog post just reviewing products and so on. I was just putting out content that I thought others wanted to read. Not what I was passionate about. What I resiled was that my most commented and liked post was the longer post in my “real talk” section, where I was writing longer post more like article posts with a more personal view and in-depth story. Those are also the posts I enjoy writing the most. So I thought, why don’t I focus on that? After all it is my blog and I should put out t content that I enjoy, not what I think others want from me. I will still write about beauty, fashion and travel but just longer and more personal.

Now finding the perfect trousers or jeans are a difficult task I hear that all the time, no matter size or length that you are. While reading this article bear in my mind that I am writing this article from my personal view. I hate putting labels on what size I am because it can vary so much from store to store and from item to item.

I am normally a size EU 40-42.( UK 12-14) That means I am a curvy girl. I have always been curvy and will always be. Being skinny isn’t for me and being curvy is a massive part of my personality. I have by some peoples definition, the perfect body or by others I am just fat. It depends whose eyes are watching me. However how I see myself is the most important part.

Just like everyone else, skinny or curvy I have bad days. Bloated days, days I feel way bigger than I am. We all have those days. But mostly I love my body. Because its a part of me and my heritage and my personality. It makes me who I am. If I was skinny I would not be the same person. I have tried and I was not in a happy place.

“Style has no size”

So how do you find the perfect trousers or jeans when you are curvy with a bigger behind but a smaller waist and only 5,2 (163 cm)? Well that is a very difficult task. Almost impossible. When I lived in UK I did not find it that difficult as they cater for a wider range of women. However in Sweden they don’t. The standard women here are tall and skinny and that’s what the stores cater for. That means that finding the perfect trousers or jeans for me is so difficult here in Sweden. I have to order online from high street shops in UK.

The best thing about many shops in UK is that they do jeans in different lengths, I get all my jeans from Dorothy Perkins as I find that they have the best fit for me. When buying jeans it is very  important to find a pair that you love and that means finding what is right for you, that doesn’t always mean what is trendy. I love a good high-waisted jeans as I think they suit my curvy body the best, they shape me into the perfect shape.

“Body confidence doesn’t come from trying to achieve the perfect body. It comes from embracing the one you’ve already got”

Being curvy also means only buying stretchy jeans. I been on the hunt for a pair of mum jeans for so long. As I see so many wearing them, the reality is that I find no pair that fits me. Jeans that aren’t stretchy is literately impossible to get over my bum, unless I go for a plus size, but then I have a small waist so they will be massive around the waist, so I have pretty much given up on finding and owning a pair of jeans that aren’t stretchy, that’s just never gonna happen. I would love to try the Good American jeans by Khloe Kardashian, they might be a perfect fit!I have given up trying jeans in stores as I know they are not gonna fit me. It is exhausting! So if you guys have any god tips, please let me know in the comment below. I would love to hear your thoughts. Where do you guys find your perfect jeans?

Now I work in an office which means office attire is mostly appropriate. Although I work at a university, where it is a much more relaxed environment I still like to look presentable and show of my fashion style. I prefer jeans or the perfect black office trousers. Now finding that perfect pair of black trousers is again not that easy. Here in Sweden the most popular shops are H&M and Zara, two shops that unfortunately don’t cater for curvy women. H&M is a Swedish store that is massive around the world. They do have a plus size section, but I am too small for plus size but to curvy for their average sizing in trousers. There trousers are very much for a more slender body with no curves. So If I want to buy trousers from H&M I have to go up a size and its not easy to find a size 14/44 in H&M. I think that is very common for many to go up a size at H&M. Its not just for me. I have read and seen so many hauls/ blog post about H&M, so I know I am not the only one. Zara is a no go zone when it comes to trousers for me, I don’t even look at there trousers, even there pull on trousers are a no, although their leggings are perfect for me. Again, same thing here I know they have small sizes and I am far by the only one who has troubles buying trousers from Zara.

“My body will take on many shapes in my lifetime it is my character that matters the most”

I am turning 36 this year, so I am still figure out in my head that I am reaching my 40’s. I am no longer 20. So when I go shopping I have to remind myself of that, and walk into those shops that cater for ladies in their 40’s. Like example the Swedish store Lindex, they have great trousers for work. When buying clothes in stores like Lindex I might even have to go down a size, because all of a sudden I am more petite. It is all very confusing and it can for sure mess with your head and body image. It is more about learning what sort of jeans or trousers you can buy from what store. Here are a few tips of mine before you head out to buy a pair of trousers or jeans.

1. DRESS COMFORTABLE

When you head out on a jeans or trousers hunt ensure you feel comfortable with what you are wearing. Is the trousers or jeans you are wearing easy to get off and on? What shoes are you wearing, are they easy to take off? This is key, cause if its not easy to take off you will feel like you are climbing a mountain before you even tried those new trousers or jeans on. And that will not put you in the right mood. I prefer wearing leggings and sneakers if I go on a shopping trip. Easy to get in and out of.

2. BE IN A GOOD MOOD

If your are having a bad day, nothing will fit or look good on you. You will have to be in right mindset, be happy and positive, cause by the time you tried on the 5th pair of jeans that you don’t fit into you will need some positive vibes. If you are a person who like to shop with others and get positive feedback from them, bring that person. I myself prefer to shop alone and give myself bad or good feedback.

3.HAVE PLENTY OF TIME

Don’t be in a rush. You will need to visit a few different shops and you will need to stand in those long queues to the fitting rooms, so time is what you need. If you can, try and go on a early morning just when the shops opens. There are no queues, staff is easier to get hold of to get help and the shops are tidy and neat and it makes it easier to find what you are looking for.

4. HAVE AN OPEN MIND

Maybe that shop that you never visit has your perfect jeans or trousers? If you don’t go and try you will never know. We always tend to go the same shops that we always go to although we know that they my not have what is a perfect fit. Getting older I realise more and more that who I am and what body type I am. Maybe don’t rule out visiting Mark & Spencer’s or Next to buy a pair of trousers or jeans. Maybe just give it a go and try.

5. TAKE A SPIN

Move around in the jeans or trousers, take a walk outside the fitting rooms, are the jeans or trousers comfortable to walk in? Do they slip? How many times have I not tried on a pair of jeans and thought they were perfect and then bought them, worn them and after using them for a day out they are ill fitting. To be honest I sometimes dance in the fitting room  in order to see if they jeans stay in place after a wild night out. If they stay on, buy them!

Now go out, find the perfect jeans or trousers and conquer the world!

I’ve missed your blog posts so much! I’m happy you’re going to be writing posts that you enjoy creating, and I can’t wait to read more of them. I have the same problem with having an issue finding jeans and pants that fit my waist and hips. It is so frustrating that at different stores you can be so many different sizes. But these are all great tips! I love the idea of moving around while trying them on. I had a sewing teacher tell me that it’s always a good idea to sit in what you are trying on, and it’s been such a big help. Also I have found that ASOS and Gap have some good jeans and pants x

Thanks Kara, I a glad to be back and writing topics I enjoy! I have heard that GAP has great jeans, but we don’t have the GAP store here in Sweden. But next time I go to London I will go to GAP and try some jeans!

This was a great read! I’m about 5’4 so even some of the regular sized jeans are long on me! In the US, the sizing can range so much! In one store you might be a 4 in the next you’re an 8! I loved how you said to not rush – I’m so impatient lol.

This was a great read. Thank you. Im short and curvy and I am afraid to ship online for clothes especially jeans. I also have to try them on as size varies. This gives me that added confidence to looking good in my jeans.

I love this post! You’re totally right that style has no size! And H&M sizing is SO BAD! I had to go up a size in my jeans and I was heartbroken thinking I’d gained weight but it’s just their sizing is so small!

These are really fab tips and I definitely agree with them all. Going shopping in a good mood makes the experience much more successful and enjoyable. Jean shopping for me is the worst as I’m different sizes in different shops. I also have to go up a size in H&M, I dunno why they don’t just make regular clothes rather than tiny things! 🙈 Great post and great advice! 😘 xx

Thanks for reading! Yeah H&M is unfortunately not the best at sizes. I am always a different size in tops and bottoms at H&M. Its a real struggle!
